The Sacred Cockroach is a cockroach deity in embedded with
shapes inspired by traditional Vietnamese decorative art, serving
as a speculative addition to the Four Sacred Creatures central to
Vietnamese belief.
The puzzle pieces complex was designed through prototyping with paper then Adobe Illustrator, Blender 3D.
The piece was born from the artist’s admiration of the cockroach for its resilience to survive in harsh environment despite its lowly status in
society. The sculpture takes form of a spirit that radiates fire through the exoskeleton in fluorescents pink, a color that homage to the campiness of underground queer culture that the artist is a part of.
