This is a digitally collaged poster for an iconic Jazz musician, Ornette Coleman. I scanned the scraps from the previous handmade collage project to create different masks of the collage. The main texts are handwritten, scanned, and transferred to create organic, high resolution texture. Other details such as the saxophone, the grey ink pattern are also manually generated.
I made a set of 8 collages inspired by the free flow nature of Jazz music and the Cubism movement. The shapes are inspired by photos taken on the street of Chicago. The figure-ground relationship is established between these spontaneous shapes. These collages are cut and pasted manually with dyed papers. The final products are used in the next project for the Jazz poster.
